Webflow Website Help: Edit It, Improve It or Move It
Webflow lets a site be designed visually and hosted in the same place, which is also why moving one takes planning. We help Surrey and BC businesses with edits, search settings and fixes on the Webflow site they have, and when it is time to leave, we plan the move so you keep as much of your content and your web address as possible.

Stay on Webflow, or move off it?
Both are reasonable. A lot of Webflow sites are well built and do not need moving.
Stay on Webflow
Often right when the site works and uses the CMS, forms, site search or store built into Webflow, because those features come with Webflow hosting. We can tidy it up, improve its search settings and fix what is broken. The trade-off is that the site stays on a Webflow Site plan.
Move off Webflow
Worth it when you want to host the site yourself, you are paying for features you do not use, or you want a different platform. Webflow’s code export gives you your pages, styles, scripts and images, but not the CMS content, store, forms or site search, so a move means rebuilding those and carrying across what exports as CSV. How we move a site off Webflow

Review
We go through your pages, CMS collections, forms, store and domain, and decide what you want to keep.

Export and check
We export the site code and the CSV files Webflow allows, and see exactly what is included and what is missing.

Rebuild and test
We rebuild what the export leaves out, such as blog or CMS content and forms, on a private copy and check it on phones and computers.

Switch and redirect
We point your domain at the new site and set up redirects from your old addresses there, before the Webflow plan is cancelled.
Webflow questions, answered
What does a Webflow code export include?
Your pages as .html files, your styles, your scripts and the images from your Assets panel, in a ZIP file you can host anywhere without crediting Webflow. Code export comes with a paid Workspace plan, not a Site plan, and hosting on your own domain with Webflow comes from a Site plan, so they are two separate things. Collection template pages are included but empty.
What does the export leave out?
CMS content, User Accounts, Ecommerce products and checkout, site search, form processing, password protection, localized content other than the primary locale, and code components. Collection lists show their empty state and Collection pages show nothing bound to fields, so a CMS blog or a store has to be rebuilt elsewhere. Webflow says forms and site search do not work on exported sites.
Can I get my CMS content, products and form entries out?
Yes, as CSV files. Collections, including archived items, export from the CMS panel, products and variants from the Ecommerce panel, orders from the Orders tab and form submissions from Site settings, Forms. Image and file fields export as links to files hosted by Webflow, and those links break if the original site is deleted, so the files are downloaded first. Files uploaded through forms also come out as links.
Can I keep my domain if I leave Webflow?
Yes. Webflow is not a domain registrar, so your domain is usually with a registrar such as GoDaddy or Namecheap, or with IONOS if you bought it through Webflow, and it stays there. You change its DNS records to point at the new host, and we check where its email is set up first. Cancelling a paid Site plan removes the custom domain and unpublishes the site at the end of the billing period unless you downgrade immediately, so the new site needs to be ready first.
How do 301 redirects work in Webflow?
You enter the old path and the new path under Site settings, Publishing, 301 redirects, then publish. Folders can be redirected with wildcard rules, and redirects run in the order they were added. They need a paid Site plan or a paid Workspace plan, and a page that still exists has to be deleted, set to draft or given a new slug first. Redirects are not part of a code export, so after a move they are set up again on the new host. See website migration.
Can you do SEO and add tracking code on Webflow?
Yes, using Webflow’s own tools. Titles and descriptions are set page by page, there is no site-wide setting, and CMS pages can use a pattern built from their fields. Custom code can go in the head or footer of the whole site or of one page, but only HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and Webflow’s support does not troubleshoot it. Nobody can promise what search engines will do with the changes, and they only show after the site is published.
