Stay on Wix, or move off it?
Both are reasonable. Which one is right depends on what you need from the site.
Stay on Wix
Often right for a small site that works and that you can update yourself. We can tidy it up, improve its search settings and fix what is broken. The trade-off is that your site lives on Wix’s servers and cannot be hosted anywhere else.
Move off Wix
Worth it when you have outgrown it, you are paying for features you do not use, or you want full control. Wix says a whole site cannot be exported, so a move means rebuilding it and carrying across what can be exported. See website migration.

We go through your pages, blog, store and domain, and decide what you want to keep.

Text, images and products can be exported or copied. Blog posts and the design cannot be exported, so we plan what to rebuild.

We build the new site on a private copy and check it on phones and computers.

We point your domain at the new site and set up redirects from your old addresses on the new host.
Wix questions, answered
Can I export my Wix site to WordPress?
Not as a whole. Wix says the site needs to be hosted and operated on its own servers. Physical products can be exported to a CSV file, up to 5,000 rows per file, and CMS collections can be exported to CSV too. Blog posts cannot be exported, so they have to be carried across another way. We plan this before you commit.
Can I download my images?
Images and videos you uploaded can be downloaded, but not all at once in bulk, and free Wix and Shutterstock media cannot be downloaded. We check which of your images you own and can reuse.
Can I keep my domain if I leave Wix?
Yes. A domain registered with Wix can be pointed at another host by editing its A records, although its name servers cannot be changed. You can also transfer it away: it needs to be unlocked, an authorization code is emailed to the registrant, and the transfer usually takes up to 7 days. Email records have to be added again afterwards, so we plan that first.
Why can’t I move my domain right now?
A 60-day lock applies after a domain is registered, after the registrant’s contact details change and after a previous transfer. Wix cannot lift it.
Can I switch between Wix editors?
Not usually. Wix says you cannot switch a Studio site to the Wix Editor, and an existing Wix Editor site cannot be migrated to the Harmony editor. Editor X sites have been moved to Studio.
Will moving hurt my Google rankings?
Nobody can promise it will not move things. Wix’s redirect tool only works while the site is on Wix, so after a move the redirects have to be set up on the new host. See website migration.
